Disposable Credit Products to Protect Your Credit Card Deal from Internet Fraud

We live in the century of disposable products. Like in the "Fight Club" movie by David Fincher, "...single-serving sugar, single-serving cream, single pat of butter, single-serving friends..." remember? So, why not use single-serving credit card numbers?..

Disposable credit card numbers are virtual, single-use numbers, meant to enable you to shop online. Making your online purchase with one of these numbers you do not have to use your actual credit card account number, thus, protecting your credit card deal from internet fraud. Hackers still can get your disposable number, but it will be of no use for them. The thing is that your number is valid for some pretty short period of time, like a month or two.

You will have no problems with getting such number. All major credit card issuers cater for this service. All you need to do is just contact your credit card company and ask them to issue you one of these numbers. And you can shop online and feel safe about your credit card. Internet hackers do not stand a chance to thieve your identity.

Agree, such system is very convenient. You get a number, pin it to your PC screen or to your lap-top, so you will not forget it. You make your purchases with your disposal number. The money you have spent is charged from your current credit card account. Once your number's exploitation period expires you just throw it away. And your credit card remains safe from internet fraud.

However disposal numbers have some disadvantages, though. Imagine you need to make a reservation at a hotel or get an airline ticket. To pick up your ticket or to check in at a hotel you will have to provide your credit card. It is quite clear that your reservations made with a single-use number will not be valid.

But as for all online purchases this number functions just like your credit card. For instance, if you have a cash back credit card you get cash rebates on each purchase made. And, of course, you should keep track of your number's validity period. Otherwise, next time you make up your mind to buy something online you might get rejected if the number's operation time runs out.

Still, disposal credit card numbers are a good way to protect your plastic from identity fraud. However, there are some other methods to secure your credit card from internet fraudsters.

While shopping online, make sure you order goods on encrypted sites. So, when you send your personal data and the number of your account, filling out e-orders, no one can intercept this information.

Also make certain that credit card application letters, statements you do not need and bills that you have paid get into a paper shredder. So scavenge fraudsters will not be able to steal your personal information.

So, it is up to you which identity fraud protection method to choose. But people who use disposal numbers are quite satisfied with this service. Reportedly, there have been no cases of credit card internet fraud registered.

Credit Cards as They Are

Active credit card use is a sign of a society with well-developed market relationships. More and more people get involved in buying goods and services with plastics. Using virtual funds to make real purchases is very convenient. But this extended buying power has led Americans to a dangerous trend. Over 40% of American households, according to the USA Federal Reserve statistics, spend more money than they make.

In the average, every American of these 40% spends $1.2 per every $1 he or she earns. Plastics have changed people's spending habits. These plastic devices allow and encourage people to spend more and more money. Around 18% of all purchases made by Americans involve credit card use.
