Using Credit Cards[10/26/2007]
Credit Card Deals away When a Baby's on the Way?

Becoming parents means taking great responsibility. You are entirely in charge of this tiny defenseless creature that is totally dependent on you. You are the baby's only support, protection and source of life. That is why having decided to have a baby you should clearly realize that besides care, love and devotion you are to provide your child with all the necessary material facilities.

Once you feel you are morally ready for this serious step in your life, it is right about the time for you to prepare the financial grounding for this significant event.

Some future parents have a pretty vague idea of that enormous number of things a newborn needs. All those nappies, baby clothes and bootees, diapers and dummies, baby food, toys and a great deal of other baby-related products. All this might cost you a fortune if you do not take care of your financial solid standing ahead of time.

It is quite natural that far not all parents-to-be think 24/7 about the amount of money they will need to buy a cradle, a baby car seat, a stroller, a baby high chair, a diaper bag, etc. A baby's arrival is one of the happiest moments in family life. And expectant parents are often more concerned about the choice of a name for a baby, breast feeding, going to prenatal classes, in one word, about anything but financial responsibility of becoming parents.

Credit Card Tips on a Young Family Financial Planning

If you are a credit card holder and you probably are one, here are some tips on how to consolidate your financial standing and be ready for the appearance of a new little member in your family.

You should find out the detailed information about your credit report and FICO score. If you have any debts, try to pay off as much as you can. In case you come across some unexpected extra-expenses, which is quite natural when it comes to babies, you will not have to sacrifice you minimum monthly payments and get into a larger debt.

Getting balance transfer cards will be, probably, the best decision at this point. Transfer your balance and benefit from introductory period with 0% APR to terminate your credit card debt.

Make some savings for a rainy day, to be ready for any emergency situation. No one can foresee everything.

It is extremely important for future parents to plan out their budget beforehand. Try to estimate the approximate amount of expenses concerning your future baby's needs. Figure out the top limit of money you can spend on your demands. Think of the ways of increasing your family income. Visa's special Budgeting for Baby Calculator service will be very helpful for you in that.

Anyway, some heavy baby-related expenses are inevitable. So, why do not you take advantage of that? Cash back credit cards is just what you need in this case. Spend money and get cash rebates.

Try to stay cool. Avoid going to extremes. Becoming those crazy baby-obsessed mommies and daddies, who want their precious child to have the best clothes, toys, and everything is the right track to getting into debts.

It will be good if you do some researches on baby items costs. It will definitely help you to save some money and not to overpay for some of baby products. Of course, it does not mean that you have to turn your shopping spree into a chase after discounts.

Remember, your attention, care, love and affection is what your baby needs first and foremost. But it is impossible to bring up a healthy, educated and multiple personality without a firm financial basis.
