What You Need to Know about Gasoline Credit Cards

Credit Card Rewards[04/04/2008]
Gasoline Credit Cards

Oil prices keep rising. This causes gasoline prices to go up as well. Now the average gas price per gallon is floating around $ 3. The average gasoline expenses for a U.S. family with one car, thus, make up about $ 2,500 a year. And if you have 2 or 3 cars in a family, gasoline expenses eat up a pretty large part of your family revenues.

Add car services, insurance, car maintenance, repairs, and other expenses associated with having a vehicle, and you will realize that your iron horse costs you a pretty penny. But credit card issuers offer a good way to reduce your car related spending. A gasoline credit card helps you to save money.

This is no news, of course. However, not everybody takes advantage of such deals. Meanwhile, some families have more than one gasoline credit card. If you make the right choice, such an offer can save you up to $ 200 or even more, depending on your expenses.

So, what implies "to make the right choice"? Do gasoline credit cards differ so much? Well, of course, the difference is not that striking. But you will need to devote some time and make efforts in order to pick the card that will suit you the most. So, what are the points you are to consider?

Of course, it is not about your car brand. What you need to take into consideration is gas credit cards' features and terms.

The first feature you should pay your attention to is a rewards programs' scheme. Different offers come with different rebates. Generally, you can earn 3 to 5% rebates on your gasoline plastic. But there are more favorable deals that offer you 6 or even 10% rebates. 10% is a very generous reward. Maybe even too generous, impossible, you say. No, some of the gasoline credit cards actually come with such a rebate, but this rate is available during an introductory period. Afterwards your rebates rate drop.

Reading terms and conditions that a gasoline credit card comes with is as essential as it is with any other credit card offer. Actually, gasoline card deals do not hide any intricate pitfalls. If you study terms and conditions, compare features and options, available with this or that offer, you will choose the deal that will match your needs and expenses and that will allow you to get maximum benefit from.

The main qualifying criterion for most gasoline credit cards is the same like for other rewards credit cards - good or excellent credit score. This, probably, can be called gasoline offers' downside, to some extent. They are not available to every credit consumer. But this requirement can easily be justified by lavish rewards that such deals give customers. Besides, your gas credit card can function as a cash back credit card.

The only actual counter-evidence that can challenge your final decision to apply for a gasoline credit card is the interest rate it comes with. Such deals cannot be called low rate card offers for sure. Like all other rewards credit cards. But this is, again, the price you are to pay for the generous rebates you get with gasoline offers. It is good to get the deal with no annual fee and no expiration dates for the rebates you earn.

Well, that is pretty much all you are to take into account when choosing a gasoline credit card.

I drive a lot, and I just can't do without my gasoline plastic. It really saves money. I guess, this card is the most beneficial one among my plastics. Even my low rate card is an abortion as compared to my gas plastic.
